You might have had your annual summer holiday planned since last year, or you might still be wondering where your destination might be. Either way, you’ve probably already been considering how you’re going to need to make your finances stretch so you can have the holiday you deserve.
When we book a holiday, if it’s done far enough in advance, then we usually pay off a little at a time to spread the cost. But what about money to spend when you get there? You’re going to need some money so you can do all the things you’ve been picturing…drinks at the beach, souvenirs, water sports, eating in restaurants etc – there’s even more to consider if you’re planning a family holiday! But don’t worry – you don’t have to cash in your investments just yet (for more information regarding investment pieces check out Golden Eagle Coin), here I’ve put together a few handy tips that will help you save towards your holiday fund.
Check before you shop
We all love heading to the high street or diving headfirst into our favourite online stores and choosing the perfect holiday wardrobe. However before you click “add to basket” or hand over your debit card make sure you check what you already have first. Things like sunglasses, hats, flip flops and sandals, sarongs and bikini cover ups are usually lost and forgotten about at the back of our wardrobes. So, make sure you have a good rummage and see what you already have and what you can wear again before you end up duplicating items and wasting money!
Beware of TV subscriptions
We all LOVE sitting and binge watching our favourite shows and there is some good TV out there at the moment! The problem? Lots of different TV streaming services that you are paying for each month. If you want a little extra cash for your holiday then don’t be afraid to cancel some of your subscriptions and add the money to your savings instead. You can always pick up where you left off when you come back home – think of all that good TV you’ll have to see you through Winter!
Declutter and resell
We all have things that we no longer love, need or use. Clothes, shoes, bags, electrical items, furniture etc. So, why not see if someone else wants it and add the money to your holiday fund? Advertise items on social media or other selling sites, or even have a yard sale at home. Even if you don’t make the fortune you were hoping, at least you’ll have decluttered!
Staying in is the new going out
Summer nights are perfect for heading out with friends to a bar and relaxing or enjoying a meal al fresco. But, you could be saving a lot of money for your holiday if you opted to stay home instead. You can still drink and eat with friends but sit out in the garden instead! Ask friends to bring a bottle each and even a dish to share if you really want to save!
