Well another year is almost over and it’s been a good one for Inside Laura’s Head, but not such a good one for me personally. So I thought I’d do a rundown of how my year went-what was good, bad and indifferent.
2015 saw me getting a new job, relocating to Darlington and having to find and furnish a house in three weeks. It saw me learning how to do the job, and all the trials and tribulations that a big promotion brings. Then it saw me leaving my little house in Darlington, and moving back to West Yorkshire. I’m not really allowed to talk about it.
I started a new job on reception in a school, and started catching up with friends I haven’t seen for ages. Things continued unremarkably until the end of March-when our world changed. My Grandad died, unexpectedly, and suddenly we were dealing with saying goodbye, organ donation, writing the eulogy, and choosing funeral songs.
The rest of the year has been weird. Some of it has been fine, some of it has been so bad-my anxiety got worse again and I was put back on medication-temping jobs have come and gone so I’ve had short periods of unemployment, and we’ve had some personal family issues I won’t go into on here.
And then, I’m not personally affected (I’m lucky) but Boxing Day saw the floods affecting some of the UK-including neighbouring towns (and my own town, a little) in the Calder Valley. Like this year hadn’t been rubbish enough.
It’s not been all bad though. Inside Laura’s Head has been coming on leaps and bounds, I’ve been to many blogging events and spent time with fantastic Leeds and Liverpool bloggers, and best of all I’ve joined a group Whatsapp chat-known as JDL-and am now able to say that some of the best women in this world are my close friends. I love you all.
All in all, I’m glad to have waved goodbye to 2015 last night surrounded by friends, and I hope that 2016 is a far better year for me.
