How I Saw Hamburg For Under £200

April 8, 2019 Comment : 1

As a travel blogger, my main aim in life is to travel as much as I can. This year I’m also in the process of buying a house and so my top priority has to be paying for that, which can make life difficult when it comes to my wanderlust.   After doing the Cheapflights ChallengeRead More

48 Hours In Hamburg

March 14, 2019 Leave a Comment

I wasn’t planning on visiting Hamburg after I’d seen Berlin-it’s not that I think seeing one city means you know a country, but I’m working on 40 before 40 and so doing the same country again isn’t that helpful. But when I realised I could see Hamburg for £200 I had it booked pretty quickly.Read More

When A Travel Blogger Can’t Travel

November 2, 2020 Leave a Comment

As travel goes, I’ve been pretty slack the past couple of years. I did Hamburg, Copenhagen and Stockholm over 8 days in February 2019, and then I did Porto in May 2019, mostly because I’d already booked and paid for it before I started seeing my ex. But due to prioritising seeing him, and payingRead More

Spending A Day In Bath

September 8, 2020 Comments : 3

The drive from Salisbury to Bath, about 40 miles and just over an hour, was a beautiful one. Long country roads, beautiful scenery and lots of pretty cottages to drive past was a lovely way to start the morning. In all honesty, that felt like a nice thing to do in itself. When we droveRead More

Planning A Multi Country Trip

February 28, 2020 Leave a Comment

Since my February 2019 trip, which started with £5 each way flights to Hamburg and ended with me getting a coach to Copenhagen then a train to Stockholm, multi country trips are my jam. I’m aiming for 40 before 40 (visiting 40 different countries before I turn 40 years old) and so hitting two orRead More

48 Hours In Stockholm

November 24, 2019 Comments : 5

Once I’d booked my bargain flights to Hamburg, and remembered that I’d already visited Berlin so Germany wasn’t a new country, I started looking for somewhere new to add on. Copenhagen was added because I’d always wanted to go but Stockholm, if I’m honest, wasn’t ever on my radar. The train times and prices workedRead More

Why I Shoot With A Photographer Abroad

May 25, 2019 Leave a Comment

Since I started travelling solo, my photos from trips have been 99% photos of buildings, street art and beautiful views, and 1% selfies. Even with my gorilla tripod and the self timer on my Olympus Pen, it’s so hard to get a decent photo of myself and I felt like my blog content was sufferingRead More

Travelling With Fibromyalgia

March 11, 2019 Comments : 8

If you look at the picture above, you’ll probably think it’s a nice shot of me, taken by a professional photographer in Hamburg, and maybe not notice anything wrong, right? Well, if you know me well or if you look closely, you may notice the pain on my face. This was taken at the endRead More

48 Hours In Copenhagen

March 8, 2019 Comments : 7

Copenhagen is a city I’ve always wanted to visit, and when I promised myself at the end of 2018 that I’d have a good go at knocking a few countries off my 40 before 40 list this year, I knew Copenhagen had to happen. I didn’t expect it to be February, only I am daftRead More

About Me

Welcome to my little corner of the Internet! I'm Laura, a 33 year old Yorkshire girl aiming to see as much of the world as I can, usually by myself. I'm a big fan of animal print, bright lipstick, gin liqueurs, cocktails, photography, writing and booking flights. I'm in love with a Lhasapoo called Buster and if I don't have my phone, laptop or a camera in my hand, you probably need to ask if I'm feeling okay. I blog about short city breaks, usually solo, on a budget without a hostel in sight. I also cover food reviews, life with Fibromyalgia, and there's a bit of lifestyle content thrown in when the mood takes me. I'm aiming to have visited 40 different countries before I turn 40, so I have 7 years left. Coronavirus has slightly changed my plans for 2020 but so far I'm 17 countries into the challenge and as long as September and October remain safe to travel I'm adding Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Romania, Serbia and a couple of others to the list before this year ends. I love working with brands on sponsored/collaborative content and if you're a travel or food related company, or just someone you think I'll love, please do get in touch.

I absolutely haven't taken Instagram or the blog a I absolutely haven't taken Instagram or the blog all that seriously in 2020 and barely posted on either. That's fine, obviously, but I miss both, so for 2021 I want to be back to daily Instagram posts, finding people to follow that bring me joy, learning the best hashtags to use and trying to make a bit of progress on here. Hoping I'll get a fair bit of travel in in the second half of the year to help with this too. Happy New Year, Instagram!
Walking quickly out of 2020... This year has been Walking quickly out of 2020...

This year has been a bloody weird one hasn't it. Not just with the Pandemic, although obviously that's been a big part of it, but dealing with the hangover from a breakup, trying to make my new house a home, maintaining friendships when I can't see anyone and I'm not good on Zoom, and A LOT of overtime at work. Work has been going really well though and I'm excited to see what 2021 brings me there. I do know that I miss properly using Instagram, and writing on Inside Laura's Head, and I'm currently writing my 2021 goals post as we speak. What are you looking forward to in 2021?
Vienna, after only 24 hours in the city, has becom Vienna, after only 24 hours in the city, has become one of those 'I really need to go back to....' places on my travel list. On Thursday I posted over on the blog about what I did during my day in the city, I wasn't sure whether to post this so close to the horrible events they've had this week but actually, I think sharing how amazing the city is is a very positive thing. Link to the post is, as ever, in my bio, if you want to go and have a read

Ive finished it in a day, loved it and want to go back to Copenhagen now as well as exploring more of Denmark. But for now, I will stay at home, be sensible, and add Denmark to my plan for if things work out for next year. 📷: @fordtography

My last stop in Vienna (maybe, depending on how I My last stop in Vienna (maybe, depending on how I feel in the morning!) was St Stephens Cathedral where I tried Chimney Cake (yum) and Schnitzel (meh) before heading back to my apartment and collapsing onto the sofa. Tomorrow I have an hour ish to the train, 4 hours on the train, a 2 hour flight then an hours drive home, after maybe 30 mins to get to my car. I suspect Monday is going to be a flare and a half 😑
Prague, its been a warm one, but I've had a lovely Prague, its been a warm one, but I've had a lovely couple of days exploring! Never did make it to Prague Castle but its somewhere behind me 🤣 I wasn't sure whether or not to come abroad on my week off, and I only booked this on Friday to fly on Tuesday, but it's doing me the world of good, I have two days in Vienna to go before I fly home, and of course I'm taking the relevant precautions and will be isolating when home. Its so quiet here though which helps ❤️
