April To July 2018 On Inside Laura’s Head

When I started freelancing in July I knew I needed to take this blog seriously, treat it like a business and really focus. For the first few months I was finding my feet with everything, learning what it means to be my own boss and setting up Laura Haley Photography so I didn’t properly plan what I’d be doing with Inside Laura’s Head. From January onwards I’ve been working hard behind the scenes, tweaking little bits with my blog design, sorting out SEO on old posts, deciding which older content I’d like to revamp, and in March I scheduled the full month worth of promotional tweets, as well as really working on increasing my pageviews by sharing my posts on Facebook. March’s views were up by 100% compared to December’s, so the work I’ve been doing is definitely beginning to show. I’ve now started a full time job, and so my time will be used different.I thought spending my bank holiday weekend planning my focus for the next three months would be really productive, and so here’s what I’ll be doing with my little corner of the internet to make sure my 9-5 doesn’t stop my side hustle growing. Massive companies I’ve worked for plan by quarter, and this post is covering my targets for quarter two-April to July 2018.

Maintain my current level of monthly views (2,500+) whilst also trying to improve on the previous months. I will do this by promoting my posts on twitter, finishing the SEO on old posts, and using my Facebook page and Instagram stories to let people know there’s a new post up. I will also share my latest post to blogging Facebook groups. I’ll also pick up a new way of sharing my content, utilising Pinterest to share my travel related posts to relevant group boards.

Continue to post every other day, increasing the amount of food and travel content I post. I will pitch to some food and travel related brands with the goal of gaining more collaborative work related to my main interests, and I will write more travel content from the trips I have already been on, as well as the trips I will take over the three months. There will be content around planning a trip, packing for a trip and travelling without using holiday from work as well.

Social Media

I will post daily content on my Instagram and Facebook, and use Insta stories to keep followers involved in my life. I will engage with other bloggers on a daily basis on all social channels, and I will work hard on my content to try to increase my following. My aim is to hit 1,000 Facebook likes and 1,500 Instagram followers by the end of June.

Other Bloggers

I will read and comment on other blogs as often as possible, at least three times a week. I will share content I have enjoyed from other bloggers on my social channels, and I will continue to tag other bloggers when I see sponsored content opportunities they’d be perfect for.

Do you plan your blog objectives?

Wow you’re only great. I don’t plan a single thing in relation to my blog . I literally just write. I do however read a good few blogs and like you if I see an opportunity suited to a different blogger I do indeed tag them too. I’m really impressed with your organisation skills lady ! I freelance too and I know it’s a struggle but I do enjoy working to deadlines x

Well done on starting up as a business – it is hard to get your head around it all at first but you are doing all of the right things.

I dont plan objectives at all. In all honesty I have spent the last three years winging my way through my blog! Im not even sure how I’ve managed it!

It’s great to have blog goals as it allows you to totally focus on what you want to achieve. I need to start writing my goals down and working on what I want to improve on – maybe that’s for the next post 🙂 Sim x

I don’t tend to make a lot of objectives as a lot of the stuff I do is the same month in month out with promoting posts and being active on social media. But I do want to go back and work on more SEO on some of my posts as I have one post which does really well every month and I’d love more to be like that x

I’ve been trying to get myself and my blog a bit more organised since I’m just about to start maternity leave and would really like to drop my employed job completely at some point. It’s hard not to get distracted by social media and watching you tube vidoes, so I think I need to teach myself some discipline 🙂

It sounds like you have a good schedule in place. I think have a consistent approach really helps when it comes to blogging goals

I plan my blogs objectives but only once a year. Your work to increase page views is definitely working looking at the result. It must be so nice to see!

Sounds like you are really focussed and doing really well. I wish I was this organised with my blog, I used to be but since I had my second child I just do it whenever I get the chance xx

Ooohh this is great! You sound incredibly organised and it’s nice to see your efforts are paying off. I don’t really plan at all… just write! x

I also have a 9-5 so can completely appreciate how difficult it is fitting it all in. I have been meaning to SEO old posts now for ages and have never got round to it. But hoping to start just doing a couple a week which will slowly but surely get them done! I need to plan. Thanks for the inspiration xx
