*Decorating My Calm Stress Free Bedroom

It’s that time of year where I decide what I really need to do more than anything (usually more that whatever work I have on, and a social life-because come on it’s cold outside and there’s good stuff on telly) is redecorate my bedroom. With me living at my parents’ house still, it’s not as easy as doing everything I want to do, so I’ve had to think outside the box a little-as they don’t want me to paint or use nails in the walls and I want a calm stress free bedroom.

New Bedding

I always feel really calm and relaxed with white, so I’ve treated myself to some gorgeous new white, Egyptian Cotton bedding. I’ve also bought new pillows because it’s always a treat to have fluffy new pillows, right?

New Blinds

I’m not a good sleeper, especially not when the room isn’t pitch black. There’s a street light behind my house that shines through my curtains and so I really, really need blinds too. I’ve been looking at some of the range from Ambition Blinds and I’ll definitely be getting something to put up at my window to stop that blasted light shining in.

New Storage

A trip to Ikea is always in order when I decide I want a new look bedroom. I tend to buy either plain coloured storage boxes, or something with a pattern that goes with my new theme. This time I’ve moved my old patterned ones inside my wardrobe and bought plain, cream coloured boxes to have on display. I also destashed my Makeup collection, got rid of half the acrylic storage I had, and put the rest in a drawer. I now have far less stuff on display and I’m much happier with that.

Inspiring Walls

I’ve been using command strips to hang some wooden plaques I have-an Audrey Hepburn quote, and a couple of motivational quotes. I’ve also got some work related bits on my wall around my desk, and I plan to print and frame some of my own photos from the past year too. I’ve got some gorgeous Rose Gold frames to put up when I get round to sorting that out, it’s going to look so good.

I’m pretty basic, and love nothing more than fairy lights, fancy cushions (currently have Rose Gold Squares and Hearts from good old Primark) and candles. I’ve got a Mrs Potts moneybox on display, and a couple of the Rose Gold storage baskets from Primark too.

I absolutely love the new look to my room, and though it would’ve been nice to paint, it’s pretty near perfect.

What’s your bedroom like?

I’d love to see some snaps of your room after it’s been decorated.
I always opt for new sheets and some wall art, although I’m decorating my partner and I’s first home together and I know he’s bought us some canvas’s of the two of us for Christmas and I cannot wait to pop them around the house. I’m aiming for our bedroom to be super cosy and super relaxed. I’ll definitely be using these tips to ensure it’s perfect.

White bedding is absolutely the best! You can style it up with throws and cushions to add colour, and when you get bored you dont have to buy new bedding!

Our bedroom is the one we haven’t renovated yet, so it has green carpet, blue and cream walls and green curtains…not the nicest but it’ll get there!
