Blue Monday is supposed to be the worst day of the year. Everyone is skint because it’s January, it’ll be raining no doubt, and people just feel glum. Not me, though, because I was invited to Limeyard Leeds to try their new menu.
Limeyard Leeds isn’t in the city as you might expect, it’s at the White Rose Centre-helpful for those of us who drive, because there’s no stupid parking fees to pay. As a Leeds Food Blogger I often go out for tea but this is the first White Rose event I’ve done and I’d never tried Limeyard. I’ll definitely be back.
The interior is very me. Quite industrial, with exposed metal in places, and lots of wooden furniture. There’s lots of seating, booths and tables so you can choose, which I like. And the menu…well, that was pretty spectacular.
We were offered a cocktail whilst we ate so I chose a Koko Mojo-Coconut rum, lime, mint, passionfruit and soda, which was really refreshing. Jo chose a Bay Breeze-Vodka, coconut rum, pineapple and cranberry, which was very fruity. Neither of the cocktails felt like they’d fill you up, a perfect food accompaniment. Food wise we were allowed to choose four dishes and it was hard to choose.
We went for Popcorn Chicken with a Chipotle Mayo on the side, Sweetcorn Tamale Cake-quinoa, polenta and sweetcorn served with lettuce, guacamole and Pico de Gallo salsa, as well as Nachos with cheese, sour cream, guacamole and spring onions and the half yard of tacos with crispy cod. I am a fussy eater and yet amazingly liked everything, so well done Limeyard’s chef! Our only criticism was there was a lot of Coriander on everything, and we don’t like the taste.
We had a great night at Limeyard Leeds and I will definitely be visiting again. Mostly because I want more tacos.
