Losing Weight #1-The Beginning

Like a lot of people, I’m not at my happy weight right now. This series isn’t casting judgement on anyone above a certain dress size, or indeed below a certain dress size-if you like your size whatever that may be then you’re just perfect and I’m pleased you’re happy in your skin. I’m not, currently, and I think that doing something about it when you’re not happy isn’t a bad thing.

To get to a healthy weight, I need to lose 5 stone. Well, as of tonight’s weigh in, 4 stone 12 1/4 pounds, to be exact. I CAN do this.

I wanted to make myself accountable to someone, though. So, as of now, I’m accountable to you guys. I’ll be doing monthly weigh in posts where I talk about what I’ve been up to food and exercise wise and how I’ve done that month.

I’ve chosen tomorrow, the start of lent, as my day to start this healthy eating plan. It’s not a diet, as such-I’m not going to tell myself I can’t have something, I’m just going to eat in moderation, be sensible and do more exercise. That’s the plan anyway. I’m going to choose three things each month to do differently to the previous month and then I can see how much of a difference it makes!

For month one, because it’s lent, I am giving up crisps, chocolate and sweets, COMPLETELY. On the 31st March I’m flying to Palma, Majorca for a long weekend away and so I will relax my rules on the trip, but before I go I’ll get an update post written for you guys.

Have you successfully lost weight/got fitter/gained weight if that’s your thing, before? How have you done it? Do you have any top tips for me?

Firstly, Love the blog Laura! My first time on your page and ive hit a post i can really relate to! I have struggled with my weight for a long time, and i think holding yourself accountable to your readers is a serious way of getting motivation. I have only just started my blog so didn’t have that option in the beginning.

I was previously 11st 7lbs and kept fluctuating between that and 12st, i hated the way i looked so decided to do something about it. Luckily the woman i work with was a huge help and every Thursday would bring her scales from home and id be held accountable to her. Believe me when i say it wasn’t pleasant, that woman could be mean lol! But it was worth it, she helped me eat correctly by doing exactly what your doing, cutting back but not ruling anything out. Everything in moderation!. I joined a gym and purchased an online plan from Kayla Itsines, shes an Australian trainer and very well known. The plan was hard work but i lost 2st 4lbs. Since then ive managed to keep off the weight and have completed my first half marathon. Everything really does come to those with patience, commitment and motivation.

You can do it Laura! Good Luck!
