*My Dream Wedding

I write a lot of dating posts at the moment because that’s my current life stage. It’s nice to look ahead and have hopes and dreams, though, so when Bijou asked if I wanted to write about my dream wedding-well, don’t most girls know what they’d want anyway?

I’ve been admiring Codie and Stephen’s wedding since they got married last year, and I enjoy reading her wedding blog so much. Their wedding was outside in what looks like a forest, people camped out and they had a bouncy castle, fairy like decor and it was just so Codie. That’s what I want people to think of my wedding, and so I’ve had a few thoughts.

I know I want a wedding that’s heavily photography themed. I want a photographer to be wandering round the reception shooting candid photos of my guests and I also want a photo booth so people can have fun, passport style photos they can take home with them. I expect I’ll want a photographer who will let me edit my own photographs and who will be happy for me to effectively set up most of the shots-photographer problems right there, I think I’d find it hard to trust that someone would get the shots I have in my head as well as I would.

I’ll definitely want street food rather than a fancy three course meal that no one likes. I’d probably have lots of different food from different countries, and definitely different dessert options too. I think I’d slot travel into the theme too-maybe naming tables after places I love and giving people favours that relate to their table’s country. That would be pretty cool.

I would also like to have someone taking instax style photographs of people as they come through the door in the morning, and writing their name on the photo-then using that for their place setting on the table. Maybe that’s too Pinteresty and faffy but I just love the thought of everyone having a shot of themselves in their wedding outfit to take home with them.

I do know who my bridesmaids would be, what style of photography I want, and that I want my bridesmaids to have dresses in the same shade but different styles, so they can have a dress they’re comfortable in and can wear again.  There’s a lot of things I still don’t know, though. I don’t actually know the location I want, whether I’d go for something outdoor or a gorgeous indoor venue like Botleys Mansion. I don’t know what my dress would be like, I’ll definitely need to do lots of trying on to decide that one. Oh yes and I don’t know who the groom will be, whether he’ll be happy for me to do all this at our wedding, or, to be honest, even if I ever will get married. Maybe I’ll just do a themed birthday party with a lot of this stuff instead?

Love the idea of having street food at a wedding. We had bangers and mash at ours and it was nice to do something a little different.
I got married 10 and a half years ago. Very happily married – but sometimes I’d love to just have another wedding because I see so many amazing ideas on Pinterest and Instagram and think how lovely it would all be. Back when I got married it was all magazines that pretty much all looked the same. So much more inspiration these days!

Gosh, can you imagine having such a beautiful wedding as that? Ours was a small affair, mostly made from upcycled materials, lol!

Ahh, weddings… I planned mine from start to finish in 14 months. I DIY’d most of it and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. It’s never too early to start planning.
