A couple of weekends ago I was invited to Smiggle in Trinity Leeds, for their Christmas party (#SmiggleXmasParty for those of you who tweet) Now, despite being a huge stationery fan, I’ve never set foot inside a Smiggle store-thinking they were more for children, a bit like the stationery version of Claire’s Accessories. So when I was invited to the event I was going to say thanks but no thanks-and then curiosity got the better of me.
They’d very kindly told me I could bring a child or children with me, and so I invited my friend’s daughter Molly. Sadly, Molly had to cancel the night before as she’d hurt her ankle-so I felt a bit of a dope going on my own without a child. A quick tweet on my way told me that Jennie was also not bringing a child, so I wasn’t the only one, and Kellie kindly joked I could borrow one of hers-Leeds bloggers are the very best.
The staff at Smiggle were VERY cheerful-considering the event started before the shop actually opened, and the staff were setting up when we arrived so goodness knows what time they got up-and they’d thought of everything, even providing some breakfast pastries for us to snack on. Hooray for thoughtful people.
We were able to spend time wandering around the shop, nosying at products (picking a pencil case up to sniff it is a weird one, but lots of their products are scented and the team were able to spend time telling us which products were) and taking photos. The bloggers who’d brought their children with them spent a lot of time trying to patiently explain they were NOT buying the whole shop-I wanted to to be honest and I’m a grown up so it must be difficult for the kids to resist. Part way through the party the team pulled two names out of a hat to win a prize-one VERY lucky blogger won a £200 voucher (oh my god, the jealousy!) and I won a Smiggle advent calender. I’m SO excited to open that in December.
We left the event with a brilliant goodybag (I’ll do a future post on the contents, because I’m just that kind to you all) and a wishlist as long as my arm. I definitely have some Smiggle goodies on my Christmas list now.
Have you been to Smiggle before? Whats your thoughts?
