Spending Six Hours In Winchester

At the end of January, I went down to Winchester to see Hayley, along with Haydy and Kariss. I was there for about thirty hours but we only ended up spending six hours in Winchester itself, what with having to do other things (like sleep, take outfit shots, eat takeaway and just hang out at Hayley’s flat) I loved the city though, and wanted to share what we managed to see and do. Time spent with my girls, no matter what we do, is always the best and the fact we got to see a bit of Winchester too is a big bonus.

Lunch at The Stable

By the time we’d taken our outfit shots in the morning (which always takes so much longer than you’ve expected, especially when there’s four of you) we were pretty hungry, and knowing we’d be spending six hours in Winchester we knew our first stop needed to be food. The girls love pizza and though I don’t, I can eat if it need be-so we headed to The Stable for lunch.

I actually had cheesy garlic bread instead of pizza and then we were too tempted by dessert, so I went for chocolate brownie with clotted cream. Lunch was really reasonably priced and pretty delicious, and the waitress complimented us all on our hair-so that was pretty cool. I’d definitely go to The Stable again.

Winchester Cathedral

As soon as I said I was going to Winchester, my Grandma started singing a song about the Cathedral. I knew then that I needed to go and see if, if only to tell her I had, and Hayley made sure it was part of our walking tour. We just had to get photos with the building, and spent a fair amount of time fussing different dogs being walked across the grounds-because that’s what we do best. So many dogs were fussed during our day spending six hours in Winchester.

Walk along the River Itchen

Winchester is full of lots of beautiful buildings but my favourite are the houses down by the river. We took a short walk along the river heading to our next stop and there’s something so soothing about running water-I could have spent a lot more time just watching the river flow it it hadn’t been quite so cold.

Drinks at The Black Boy Pub

Hayley had told us all about her favourite pub and how quirky it was-with different stuffed dead animals, bottles hanging from the ceiling and all sorts of weird and wonderful things. There was a piano, a selection of board games, and a couple of dogs. Pubs that welcome dogs are the best pubs. We spent a good hour and a half in here, warming up from the cold weather and chatting.

Whilst we didn’t do many touristy things with our short time, we had a really nice, relaxing day and it was so nice to just spend time with the girls-I usually only see them at events when things are so rushed. I’m hoping to go back to Winchester when it’s a little bit warmer, what else should I see next time?
