What I did this weekend-Brighouse 1940s weekend

Hello!

This weekend was the annual 1940s weekend in Brighouse (my hometown) so I went down there. I actually didn’t manage too many photos, due to having my hands full of hot dog, then ice cream, then macaroons, and then a pint of cider. Oops!

As you can see there was plenty of food, both streets were full of stalls and most of them sold food, including barbecue, cakes, Indian, Mexican, and many more. I was spoilt for choice!

As well as the food there were cars from the 40s, singers, dancing, and even Winston Churchill-who did the famous ‘We will fight them on the beaches’ speech and then the VE Day speech. We were supposed to have a flyover from the RAF but sadly, due to the weather, this was cancelled-it was just too windy for them to fly.

The 1940s weekend happens every year, people dress up and it’s a lovely community atmosphere-if you’re anywhere near us do come next year!

Here are the photos I managed.

Have you ever been to a 1940s weekend?
