My little Clio scraped through it’s MOT this month, only needing a new tyre-phew. It’s getting older though and so I’m thinking ahead about when I need to buy a new car, and I’d absolutely, definitely, be thinking about an electric car. I know lots of people wouldn’t though, so when New Motion asked if I wanted to talk to you about electric cars hought I’d go through the reason why I would buy one (if the price is right, of course!)
Charging Is Easy
With New Motion charging points all over, and charging points in lots of supermarkets, car parks and services, it’s really simple to find somewhere to charge an electric car. You can even get a charging point for home-very useful when you’re at home a lot like me (freelancer woes) oh yeah, and there’s an app to tell you where your nearest one is. It couldn’t be easier.
We all know that petrol isn’t good for the environment but I didn’t REALLY understand why-until I started researching for this post. I realised that gasoline contributes to air pollution which is obviously not a good thing. I care a lot about keeping our world here for future generations but I’m not the most knowledgeable-it’s good to know an electric car is a way to make a significant difference.
They’re Nice To Drive
I’ll confess, I’m presuming this. I had a hybrid car (a Toyota Auris) as my company car when I worked for Community and I drove with it in electric mode as often as I could. When I first got the car I was really unsure about electric mode, thinking it was clearly going to be really slow and clunky. Nope, it was decent enough speedwise, a smooth drive, and also lovely and quiet. I do like quiet (my Clio sounds like I’m about to take off!)
There Are So Many Options
Again something I didn’t really know until writing this post, there are SO MANY brands who make electric cars right now. Big manufacturers like BMW, Citroen, Hyundai, Honda, Fiat and Ford are among the many options. You won’t be stuck for choice if you’re looking for electric only.
Would you buy an electric car? Why/why not?
