I’m going to share a big secret with you guys now. Most people, when they hear this, are shocked, sometimes appalled. I….don’t actually like pizza! I know, scandalous! It’s the tomato sauce, I don’t like that, so I (and my poor partner who does like pizza) never go out for pizza. Then I discovered Pizza Punks.
They say they’re ‘here to rip up the rule book and tear apart the pizza game’, promising ‘whatever pizza you want, without any judgement or topping limits’. Sounds good, right?
This Pizza Punks review post will tell you about our experience eating there, and let you decide if it’s somewhere you need to add to your eating out wishlist. (It is!)
Pizza Punks are not exclusive to Leeds, they’re a chain, which makes this post more useful to most of my UK readers. They have branches in Glasgow, Belfast, Newcastle, Leicester, Durham, Liverpool and Nottingham too. and if none are near you you can even buy bake at home kits on their website too-I love this. Bringing good food to everyone who wants it, yes please!
I like my food reviews to be a mixture of Leeds places and chains so that if you’re not from Leeds, you can still find places you like the look of on Inside Laura’s Head. Hopefully this Pizza Punks review ticks all the boxes.
Why Pizza Punks when you don’t like pizza?
Pizza Punks do a create your own pizza for £12.95, and you can choose a white sauce or a bbq sauce instead of the usual red sauce if you like. You can add as many toppings as you want to, and they do some more unusual ones as well as the standard pizza toppings. I got white sauce on mine so I knew I’d actually like it. Being able to totally customise my pizza makes it something I can actually eat and I think that’s really cool.
What did you order?
We both had a create your own pizza. Mine was white sauce base and I added lemon and herb chicken, gorgonzola and garlic roast potatoes. J had the red sauce and added black pudding, chorizo, pepperoni, salami and red pepper. We shared a side of mac n’ cheese too. For drinks, we tried three of the cocktails-Sherbet Cherry, Love Heart Caiproska and Dead Punks Society, which arrived on fire. Really cool. J also had a Moretti-their beer selection was pretty good to be fair. For dessert we shared an ice cream cookie sandwich which was really good.
How was the food?
We both loved our food. The mac n’ cheese was cheesy enough without being too cheesy. My pizza was very cheesy because I added more cheese, the chicken was well cooked and good quality, the roast potato slices really added something. J had plenty of meat on his, he’d half expected that adding multiple toppings meant they gave you less of each one but it didn’t seem that way. The cookie sandwich we had for dessert was delicious, there was a normal chocolate chip cookie and a chocolate one with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and lots of chocolate sauce. Our only issue is it was hard to eat-but that’s because of the cookies hardening when they touch the ice cream, and would happen with that dessert anywhere.
The cocktails were really tasty and it was great that the menu had a variety of drinks we’ve not seen before, rather than the same three stock cocktails a lot of places do. I’d rather try something new most of the time so well done Pizza Punks for that.
Is Pizza Punks expensive?
Our food cost us around £80 in total, which, when you compare it to somewhere like Dominos and remember we had four alcoholic drinks and a dessert, feels reasonable. Pizza Punks isn’t likely to be somewhere you go for lunch every day if you work in the city, but for a treat or a date night it feels like a fair price point.
They were more than happy to offer a takeaway box for our leftovers (well, my leftovers) so there was no food waste, and I enjoyed my last slice of pizza for breakfast the next day.
Would you go back?
Yes! We are already eyeing up some of their deals, which seem to vary between branches (so check the website!) Bottomless brunch, a pizza and unlimited cocktails for £31.50, sounds like a dangerous but brilliant start to a day so I’ll definitely do that at some point.

I like a bit of choice when it comes to pizza (which I absolutely love, haha) and it’s quite common where I live to have restaurants and take outs offer several sauces (BBQ, pesto, alfredo, garlic and the classic red sauce, among others) so it’s great to have something a little different. Even though you don’t like pizza, it was great that you gave this place a try, it sounds like it has a lot to offer. It looks delicious!
