Dealing With Flight Delays

September 5, 2016 Comments : 4

So I’m writing this from an airport bar because guess what? Yep, we’ve been delayed. I’m off to Majorca for a week with my family (expect ALL the travel posts over the next few weeks) and after being model travellers and arriving the suggested 3 hours before departure, we were told at check in that we were delayed by an hour and a half. Boo. I do feel sorry for the Berlin passengers who have a FIVE HOUR delay, though. That’s definitely no fun. Anyway, the delay is good in a way because it’s inspired me to write this post-hello, content. And the airport (Liverpool John Lennon, if you’re interested) is clearly sensible because I’ve been able to plug my phone in to charge, hop onto their free wifi and get some work done. Cheers, guys! So I thought I’d share my tips on dealing with flight delays, as a way of dealing with my flight delay.

Raid Duty Free

It’s my holiday tradition to treat myself to a White Toblerone and a copy of America’s Cosmopolitan magazine. If you’re delayed it gives you plenty of time to scour every shelf to see what bargains you can buy-I’m fancying some new perfume, please!

Hit the massage chairs

Most airports have them these days right? £1 for 3 minutes of bliss, and you get all your aches and pains fixed for the flight. Temporarily fixed, granted, but still a good idea.

Get drunk

This needs no explanation. Just don’t drink so much they don’t let you on the plane!

Watch the planes

I love standing at the window watching the planes taxi along the runway. Makes me really excited to get on mine. A delay means more time to just do that.

Have a manicure/pedicure/wax

If you’ve forgotten something when you were doing your holiday prep, the beauticians in the airport will sort you right out. I almost wish I hadn’t done my nails so I could get them done now!

Have another drink

Well, you ARE on your holidays!

Thankfully I’ve never had a plane delayed but always a first time for everything – thanks for the tips! x

I’d definitely raid duty free! A flight being delayed might really be a blessing for those that like to shop xD

Its all about the drink for me if delayed. Or if not delayed. Rather on the plane than off as then its free but if it came down to it and a massive delay, I’d fork out the cash!!
