2024 has been an epic year for us for travel. We managed to cram so much in that I couldn’t let the year end without doing a roundup post on here, so let’s get into exactly what we managed to do, and where we visited, in 2024.
Hong Kong
Hong Kong, in February, was our first trip of the year, and our first time in Asia. J had won a ‘just pay taxes’ flight in a Cathay Pacific competition so we decided it was a good time to start on Asia, and luckily he split his prize with me-so we booked two flights together, paid just taxes for his and in full for mine, then halved the cost. Overall, we had just under a week to explore and packed so much in, but I would happily go back as part of a bigger trip as there’s definitely more of Hong Kong to see.

You can see my Hong Kong Photo Diary post, read about my experience in the city, and check out my post about visiting the Big Buddha too. There will definitely be more Hong Kong content to come from me, which I’ll add to this post once it’s live.
London, England
Whilst England is my home country, I don’t really go to London often, so a few days in the capital is still a bit of a treat. We went down to see J’s favourite band, and I got to, finally, visit God’s Own Junkyard. I’ve written a post about my visit, mostly so I could share all the photos!

Amsterdam, The Netherlands
I’ve been to Amsterdam many times, and it’s up there in my top five cities. J had never been, so for his brother’s 50th we, and J’s sister, took him for a couple of nights to explore the city. We did some of the museums I’d never done before, had lovely meals together and had an all round great time. I shared whether the Amsterdam city card is worth buying, and I’ve previously written lots of other Amsterdam content you’ll find useful too.

Poznan, Poland
We love Poland and Poznan is my third Polish city, J’s second. We spent a weekend exploring, eating good food and taking lots of photos, which Poland is always great for. I wrote spending 48 hours in Poznan about this trip.

Rimini, Italy
For this year’s big summer trip, we started in Italy, staying near Rimini in a beach resort town for three days. I wrote about spending a day in Rimini, as the other two days we hung around our hotel and visited San Marino.

San Marino
San Marino, a tiny country completely surrounded by Italy, is such an unusual one I couldn’t resist. I wrote a spending a day in San Marino post about our day trip, which was less than an hour on a bus from Rimini, and really easy.

Venice, Italy
Venice is a bucket list city for most of us isn’t it? We had a day and a half in the city and managed to see a lot, including a trip to Burano, the island of the colourful houses. It was very, very busy in the city, and even more hot, but I’m so glad we got to go.

Ljubljana, Slovenia
Ljubljana has been high on my list for a long time, after several trips I intended to do the city on, including when I had to cut a trip short due to Fibromyalgia. This summer we finally made it there and the city did not disappoint. There’s no content live just yet, and I’ll update this post when there is.

Lake Bled, Slovenia
We visited Lake Bled for a day when staying in nearby Ljubljana, and I fell in love with how beautiful it is. I’m working on a post about the town and I’ll share it here when it’s live.

Zagreb, Croatia
Zagreb was a beautiful city to end our summer trip on, although I did lose my phone there-I’m so sad about all the not backed up travel photos I lost. The new phone has Google photos so auto backs up and I’m relieved about that! Anyway, Zagreb content is also still being worked on, but expect it up here soon.

Oslo, Norway
We chose Oslo to celebrate our second anniversary in September and spent 48 hours exploring the city. I’m still working on this post, but it’s coming soon. Norway was a new country for me and we even managed to watch some of the Oslo marathon too.

Prague, Czechia
I’ve visited Prague before but J hadn’t, so we took a trip there together, and I really enjoyed showing him such a brilliant city. I’ll be updating my Prague post with all of the new knowledge I gained from my second trip.

Cesky Krumlov, Czechia
Cesky Krumlov was a day trip from Prague, as we wanted to see a bit more of Czechia. A post is going live in January and I’ll update the link onto this post when it does.

Marrakech, Morocco
We ended the year with a week in Marrakech to celebrate my birthday. J paid for the flights and accommodation which meant I could justify spending more on souvenirs (a good thing, as their souks were amazing!) and we asked for experiences in the city for birthday and Christmas presents, allowing us to do more than we would have otherwise. Morocco content is coming up and I will, of course, update this post with links to the posts when they’re live. I’m thrilled that our first time in Africa was in such a pretty city.

This post has ended up a list of content coming soon so I hope the sneak preview is appreciated!
I think we did pretty well, with six new countries, revisiting two cities I love to show J around, and two new continents under our belt in 2024. Let’s see what 2025 brings.
Did you manage to get away in 2024? Let me know in the comments.

Wow, so many cool places visited last year! I love Hong Kong for its city life and scenery. I find it’s such a cool blend of the West and East. I hope 2025 brings many new adventures!
Love this! I especially love that you added Slovenia! beautiful place. Great list overall so enjoyed reading about all the places you went. Thanks for sharing!
