2025 has been a brilliant year for travel, seeing me hit my 40 before 40 target visiting six new countries (Switzerland, Greece, Bosnia Herzegovina, Serbia, Andorra and Malta) and having a great time exploring all of them. I’ve created 28 pieces of content, less than I’d like but a respectable number, and failed at getting a newsletter off the ground. Social media wise I’ve not seen much growth but I’ve also not put the work in, so overall I’m pretty pleased with the results from 2025.

For 2026, I want to take this more seriously. I want to be strategic with my goals and plans, whilst being realistic about the amount of time I can actually spend working on Inside Laura’s Head alongside my full time job, my relationship, running a house, trying to run 5k, going to the gym, Burnley games etc etc.

I’m not going to go too deep into plans in this post as I want this to be a mix of blog goals and personal goals as a lighthearted start to 2026, so, in no particular order, this year I want to;
Read a book a week. I’ve totally fallen down on reading in 2025 and I do love it, I just forget to reach for a book. I have a huge TBR (to be read) pile and I want to work through that, creating space in my house again!
Run 5k (consistently, by the end of 2026) I AM running, not as regularly as I’d like but as regularly as time and my body lets me at the moment. I need to make this more of a priority, and I’m going to go back a few steps on Couch 2 5k to let myself find running easier again, before pushing forward to increase the time I can run for. I’d managed a 20 minute run in July, then went through a period of illness and haven’t run more than 8 minutes in one go since. I don’t think I could manage 8 minutes today, but by the summer I want to be running 5k and I want to keep that up going forward.

Post weekly on Inside Laura’s Head This is a pretty important one for me, as regular posting (I’m going to do Friday at 7am) means readers know when to come back for new content from me.
Plan content, and write content, in advance where possible. This will not always work, but with my fibromyalgia flaring up at unexpected times and my ADHD brain meaning I can’t always focus, writing content in advance, when I’m feeling in a writing mood, means I’ll have more content to choose from and can produce better quality work for my readers. I currently have 45 part written posts and intend to finish some of them throughout January, as I already have January’s content written and scheduled. I know, who even IS she!?

Improve Inside Laura’s Head-Facebook. I want to make Inside Laura’s Head’s Facebook Page a place where I share travel news, other people’s content, little snippets of behind the scenes and other things, regularly, not just a blog post once every few months. Please do go and like the page if you want to see how that goes, I’d love the support.
Visit at least four new countries. I may have completed 40 before 40, but I’m not stopping there. We have America booked for this year, we’ll be going to at least one new place for my 40th, and I’d like to visit Moldova. I’d also like to do at least one more new country, so watch this space.
Do you make future year plans like this? Do you enjoy these sort of posts?
