People who read blogs do so for many different reasons. Sometimes you go to a specific blogger because of their expertise on a topic, and return whenever you need more information about that topic. And sometimes, you read because you like the blogger, the person behind the words, and want to see what they’re up to and what’s important to them. When you like the blogger, you tend to keep going back to their blog, and you may want to do more to support them, but it can be hard to know how. I’m sharing 5 easy ways to support your favourite bloggers, so you can make sure they know how much you appreciate their work, and you can help them to grow so they can keep creating content for you.

1. Read their blog regularly
Bloggers write content because we want people to read it. Ideally, read at least 3 different posts on their blog before you then leave it-this impacts a blogger’s bounce rate (how quickly people leave after clicking onto their website) and a lower bounce rate, where people have read a few things before leaving, tells Google that their blog is valuable. This helps their posts to rank higher, so that when someone searches a term they’ve written about, they are higher up the list and more likely to be the page the person searching chooses to read.
2. Leave a comment
Often when brands are looking at working with bloggers, or when readers are reading content, they want to know whether that blogger has an influence on the people who are reading their posts. If a blogger has influenced you to book a trip to somewhere they’ve been, if you took their advice on something into account, or if you bought that travel blog they’ve been talking about-write a comment on their post and tell them. They will be so pleased to know they’ve helped.

3. Follow their social media channels
Following, and then interacting with, someone’s Twitter (I will never call it X, it will always be Twitter!) Instagram, Tiktok or Facebook account shows the algorithm that you think their content is worth seeing. It will then show you more of their content, and it is more likely to show their content to other people too.
4. Tell your friends
Sharing a blogger’s post with a friend is the ultimate compliment to the blogger. I recently shared a post from a blogger I love, on Gdansk, to some friends heading for a weekend in the city and they found it really useful. It’s helpful to your friends and it’s helpful to the blogger, this one is a real win-win.

5. Buy via their affiliate links
A lot of bloggers and influencers are members of affiliate schemes, which means that when they talk about something (like if I was telling you about an amazing travel bag I’d just bought) when you click on their link and buy that product, the blogger gets commission. Now, this is usually a very small amount, and of course you can go and search for that product yourself instead so they don’t get commission, but the way I see it if you’re buying the product anyway, why not do it via their affiliate link so they get a few pence?
So far I’ve not used affiliate links on Inside Laura’s Head but going forward I will be doing. I’ll always make it clear when something is an affiliate link, of course.
Hopefully this post has helped you to know how to support your favourite creators-let me know in the comments who’s work you’re enjoying so I can check them out too.
