I LOVE the Balkan countries; Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina have been some of my favourites to visit on my 40 before 40 journey. Now that I’m nearing the completion of that goal, I’m reflecting on some of the trips I’ve taken and different content I can share from previous trips, and I really, REALLY wanted to shout about how awesome the Balkans are. I’m planning a proper written post too but for now, here’s 21 photos to make you want to visit the Balkans. Book the flights, honestly.

Some of these photos are lower quality-I lost my phone in Croatia in summer 2024, and so lost a lot of my photos from that trip. I’ve borrowed some from my partner for this post.
