40 Before 40…An Update

A while ago, I wrote about my plan for 40 before 40; my goal to visit cities in forty different countries, before I hit 40 years old. I stalled a bit on this in 2019 (although I did visit Copenhagen, Stockholm and Porto, so added three to my list) but I’m still only at sixteen countries of my forty target.

2020 is going to be a better year for travel, though. As I write this, I’ve already booked an eight day long trip in June. I’m hitting Prague, Vienna, Bratislava and then Budapest, with about forty four hours in each city. I can’t wait to cross four more countries off my list and create content from four different cities, expect July to be a bumper month for travel on Inside Laura’s Head.

April will be pretty good too, as in March I’ll be going to Bratislava, then Belgrade, with a long layover in Amsterdam on the way home. I’m REALLY excited about that, as there’s a whole district of the city I’ve not yet seen, that I WILL be exploring during that layover.

Later in the year I want to do a couple more two country trips. I’m thinking Tallinn and Helskini, and possibly Riga and Vilnius. That will take me nicely to ten more countries for 2020, although if the overtime at work keeps coming in maybe I can go for more.

I’m hoping for a couple of further away countries in 2021, so I will be saving up throughout this year to make that dream a reality. I’d like to do America, either New York or San Francisco, and maybe a South Korea and Japan trip too. Where would be your dream destination to add to this list?
