I’m really lucky living in Yorkshire, as I’m close to three different airports. Over the ten years since starting this blog I’ve flown to and from many, many airports and one of them is Liverpool Airport, which is just over an hour from my house, down the M62. When they asked me to work with them on this post, to show my readers why they should fly from Liverpool, I couldn’t think of a better collaboration. Read on to find out why you should fly from Liverpool Airport for your next trip.
Parking is easy
There’s nothing worse than having to park miles away from an airport, in a random field somewhere because it’s the only affordable option. Liverpool Airport has parking right in front of the airport, or cheaper parking a very short walk away. I always pay that bit extra to park right in front of the terminal building as travelling with Fibromyalgia makes that convenience worth it for me, and pulling into the carpark and spotting the Yellow Submarine right outside fills me with joy. You’ll never need to walk more than five minutes from Liverpool Airport’s parking options-a real winner.
Parking can be prebooked and I’d highly recommend pricing that up before booking any flight, but I’ve just found parking for my next three night trip for £47 which feels really reasonable.
The selection of flights is fantastic
Budget airlines Jet2, Ryanair, WizzAir and Easyjet all have plenty of flights to choose from, including to one of the best cities in my opinion, Amsterdam. (I’ve got tons of Amsterdam content, by the way, if you want to go and explore…)
With Spain, Turkey, Portugal, Greece and Cyprus on their destinations list, summer sun holidays are all sorted but what impresses me most about Liverpool Airport is the less obvious places they fly to. I didn’t realise, until working on this post, that places like Kaunus in Lithuania, Iasi in Romania or Enfidha in Tunisia could be so easily flown to from Liverpool.
As someone who does a lot of city breaks, I value not always having to fly to a country’s capital city. When we visited Bucharest, I had no idea there were direct flights to other parts of Romania from UK airports (Liverpool also flies to Bacau and Cluj Napoca) and now I know, I’m very tempted to explore more of the country. RIP my bank balance because I’m now planning at least three more trips from Liverpool Airport in my head…oops.
Liverpool Airport has all the food, drink and shopping you’ll need
At Liverpool airport there’s the usual World Duty Free with it’s array of makeup, perfume and alcohol to tempt you, as well as the expected Boots and WHSmith. There’s also a JD Sports in the departure lounge which is tax free, so you can make a decent saving on your shopping here.
If you want to eat there’s a Greggs, Burger King and Uppercrust for the cheaper snacks, or Kissing Gate and Estuary Bar and Grill for a bigger, fancier meal before you fly. Coffee fans can pick up a much needed Starbucks before boarding too-I always mean to do this and never remember until the last minute.
You can have time in Liverpool before or after your trip
Liverpool is one of my favourite UK cities, and it’s well worth a visit. If you don’t live near Liverpool Airport but fancy a flight from there, you could (and I would) stay over for a night or two before or after your flights. Liverpool Airport has a few on site hotels or you could stay in Liverpool city centre, or somewhere nearby, to explore the city properly.
With a couple of days in and around Liverpool I’d recommend a quick trip to Crosby Beach to see Anthony Gormley’s Another Place, a walk around Royal Albert Dock, a visit to The Beatles Story and the absolutely brilliant Museum of Liverpool, which is the only museum I keep revisiting as it’s so good. Make sure to visit Liverpool Mountain which is on the Albert Dock near the Tate until September 2028, and see how many Super Lambananas you can spot around the city too.
Liverpool Airport’s lounge will help you start your holiday off in style
If you don’t fancy an airport Burger King (who am I to judge!?) you could treat yourself to the Aspire VIP Airport Lounge. We’ve done an airport lounge before and felt really spoilt being able to have a guaranteed, comfortable seat, somewhere to charge our phones as well as, not forgetting, unlimited snacks and drinks. At Liverpool you have to pay for Champagne or Prosecco but other drinks are included and a lounge is never as expensive as you expect it to be.
