Hi, I’m Laura, sometimes known as Lau or L. I’m a 39 year old blogger and photographer who loves to travel, both solo and with my partner, and I want to encourage you to travel too! Travel shouldn’t be reserved for people who have months of free time and lots of money, I travel on a budget with limited annual leave and you can too. I share content about where I’ve travelled to as well as hints and tips about travelling solo, travelling on a budget, planning trips and travelling with Fibromyalgia and ADHD. I’ve just completed my 40 before 40 challenge, visiting 40 different countries before my 40th birthday (I hit number 40 a few days before turning 39) and I’ve been to four continents so far. Amazing!
I’m also returning to some favourite destinations, that I originally travelled to solo, now that I’m in a relationship with J (who is mentioned on here in a general sense sometimes, but doesn’t work on the blog or feature in photos on here, although he is now the photographer for most photos of me!) and last year we visited Copenhagen, Porto and Prague as repeat cities. It was a great chance to update some of my content whilst showing him cities I’ve enjoyed too. I’ll keep revisiting some of the best cities to make my content as fresh as possible, whenever I can.
I started out as a solo travel blogger, spending six years exploring on my own, and really enjoying it. Now, I travel with J, although I will still do the odd solo trip in the future if he can’t make it, is busy or doesn’t fancy a destination I do. Travelling with someone you love hits different though, and I love exploring with him the most.
It’s my belief that not having anyone to go on a trip with shouldn’t stop you seeing the world if that’s what you want, and I hope you’ll use Inside Laura’s Head to inspire you to book that trip, whether it’s alone or with someone else. I’m very aware we’re in a cost of living crisis and so Inside Laura’s Head also talks about ways to save money on trips, and different ways to make extra money, to ‘side hustle’ if you like, so that you can pay for your trips. I paid for for my entire 2023 summer trip through extra money I made in April, May and June that year, for example, and I don’t keep these things secret over here at Inside Laura’s Head!
I cover the UK and abroad with some of my favourite destinations being more unusual cities (Pristina and Podgorica for example) and I also have lots of content on cities I keep returning to, like Amsterdam. I could talk all day about the places I’ve enjoyed but I’m honest about when I don’t like somewhere too-like when I didn’t like Barry Island, or my feelings on Paris. You can rely on me to be honest, whilst still trying not to insult a place other people love.
