A few weeks ago, because Burnley were playing there in the evening, we decided we’d be spending a day in Hull. Even though Hull is just over an hour away from me, it’s not somewhere I’ve been for pleasure, so I was looking forward to exploring, and we were pleasantly surprised at how much we fit in to our day. Read this post to find out some of the things you can do with a day, or even a few hours, in Hull.

Viewing the Humber Bridge
Our first stop was not quite Hull, but nearby, the Humber Bridge. We drove over the bridge itself, mostly because the viewing point I thought I’d found on the correct side was on the other side, and then we had a coffee and sat in the car admiring the view. It was a bit cold to hang out outside, so viewing the bridge is maybe more of a summer activity, but I’m still glad we went.

Lunch at Trinity Market whilst spending a day in Hull
I’m a big fan of a street food so we’d searched for somewhere we could get lots of little bits to eat in Hull. I won’t talk much about Trinity Market as I’ve written a separate review post, but safe to say I’m a fan, and if you like street food you will be too.
A couple of hours at The Deep
The Deep, Hull’s Aquarium, is a great place to spend a couple of hours. I’ve written a review of The Deep so you can go have a read if you’re thinking of paying a visit.

The Quays, Coffee and Gelato
Spending a day in Hull meant we had loads of time, as the Burnley game wasn’t until the evening and we’d gone over early. We hadn’t had ice cream in ages, so we wandered down to the Quays, had a walk around there and had coffee and gelato in a pretty little cafe I can’t remember the name of. You’ll definitely find somewhere nice down there, so head down anyway, it’s a gorgeous part of the city.

Bankside Gallery
Bankside Gallery is Hull’s Street Art Quarter, an area where art is legal and there’s plenty of it. It was a 15 minute walk out of the city, so not an easy one if you have mobility issues, but worth it if you’re able to get there. I took lots of photos and really enjoyed seeing the work on the walls.

I think Hull is something I won’t keep going back to for the sake of it, but I definitely wouldn’t mind spending a day in Hull if we have a reason to be there again.
Have you spent time in Hull? What do you think of the city?
