A few weeks ago, back in January, J and I headed to Liverpool for the day. I’d asked around for foodie recommendations and Katy didn’t let us down when she recommended Baltic Market. I love finding new places to eat and 9 times out of 10 I look to local food bloggers when I’m doing that, so I wanted to make sure I talked about Baltic Market on Inside Laura’s Head. Hopefully, if you’re spending a day in Liverpool, you’ll know whether Baltic Market sounds like your sort of place after you’ve read this review.
Baltic Market is a street food market in one of my favourite parts of the city, the Baltic Triangle. If you’re into street art like I am, you’ll definitely want to walk off some of the delicious food you’ve eaten with a street art hunt afterwards, and I’ve talked about some of the best street art in Liverpool if you want to know more about where to find some of the best pieces. I highly recommend having a look at that post when you’ve finished this one.

I’m big fan of anywhere with tasty food, cocktails, a good atmosphere and quirky decor. Baltic Market has it all-lots of colour, neon lights, disco balls, a dj, dogs are allowed and there’s a huge choice of food and drink. The room is filled with different independent vendors (a bit like Leeds’ Trinity Kitchen, if you know it) and even if you’re as fussy with food as I am you’re bound to find something you like.
We couldn’t decide, obviously, so ended up with four dishes between us which we struggled to finish. Probably should’ve got three to share-but how could we choose between these four? The good news is the vendors rotate, so next time we go, we’ll be able to have different dishes and we still won’t be able to decide, or finish them!
Meat Feast Pizza from Little Furnace

I’m not a pizza fan (in fact, I’d go so far as saying I don’t like pizza-I know, scandalous!) so J took the opportunity to get pizza when he could, as we tend to cook together so he’s not had pizza for ages. I can’t comment on the taste but it smelt amazing and he enjoyed it, so I think we can safely say it was good pizza. 8/10
Salt N Pepa Chicken Fries from Pattersons

I love salt and pepper anything so these fries, topped with fried chicken, were always going to be my first choice. They were delicious-just the right level of spices, good crunch, the chicken was cooked properly without being over done, and I could have eaten a second portion if I’d not had so much food on the table. 10/10
Pomegranate Halloumi Fries from Hafla Hafla

Halloumi is one of my favourite foods so Halloumi fries are always something I choose. They did do Salt and Pepper Halloumi fries and I was tempted, but decided to go for the Pomegranate ones for a bit of variety. The portion was massive and could’ve filled me up as a snack, the cheese was cooked well but not overdone, like you often get with Halloumi. I’d definitely have these again. 8/10
Veggie Gyozas, vendor unknown

It looks like the vendor who made these has already rotated out of Baltic Market, which is a shame, but I wanted to include these in the post anyway. We’re trying to eat more veggie dishes and this was an easy win-even ultra fussy me enjoyed these. Crunchy and full of whatever vegetables were in the filling (I didn’t ask, in case the answer included ‘onion’ which would’ve meant I didn’t eat any!) I didn’t taste any of my least favourite food in there though. 7/10.
One of the vendors did Tango Ice Blasts with added vodka, so I chose a cherry one to drink, but Baltic Market has so many options for alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Next time I’ll be working my way through their cocktail menu for sure.
Have you been to Baltic Market? Has this post made you want to?

I have never been to Liverpool but I must go. Street food is right up my street.
